Let's Try This Again: Lady Winter

Image
Today is December 21st, otherwise known as the Winter Solstice, or Yule. I'm celebrating with friends, and thought I would revisit a look I did almost 2 years ago now. I said I would come back to it, and now I have. Here is the original post/look, for comparison. It comes at a good time, too, because I've been trying to go back to older palettes that I haven't used in a while, and the Urban Decay Electric palette is definitely one of them. I'll be the first to admit that this is my first time working with a glitter base, or with eyeshadow with this much sparkle in them. (I literally bought a glitter base so that I could use these colors, at the recommendation of BiohazardousBeauty.) On that note, take the next couple comments with quite a few grains of salt. The truth is, I wasn't super happy with the two Elektrocutes I tried, Hi-Viz and Sparkage. Even with a glitter base, the sparkle fell out pretty fast. Also, I think the focus is so much on the sparkle that there isn't enough attention payed to the eyeshadow itself - it didn't go on super pigmented. I pulled out the Urban Decay Full Spectrum to shore things up (because you straight-up can't blend neon colors), but I ended up having to go over the Sugarpill colors because of the weak payoff. I'm hoping that as I get more used to using glitter b

There's a going-away party for a friend and colleague tonight, so I put together something fancy. I had trouble deciding on the look I wanted, because I couldn't decide between my new Sugarpill Elektrocutes and new LA Splash Liquid Lipsticks. I decided on LA Splash. This turned out incredible, despite the initial "what am I actually doing?" phase. I LOVE it. <3 Like, you're gonna have to excuse all the selfies, I just felt so fabulous .
